The food was delicious, high quality and presented beautifully,
I had the sea bass which was perfectly cooked and so tasty and my other half had the jerk chicken leg with rice and again it did not disappoint.
Although we were both full, we shared a deconstructed banoffee cheesecake and this was delicious.
The decor of the pub is a little bit wacky with random dolls, toys everywhere but I guess it all adds character.

Once we got used to the small b roads to travel to Glastonbury and surrounding areas it was absolutely fine. The food at the Sheppey is fantastic, properly delicious cooked by great chefs with fresh mostly local produce (and it shows), honestly we found eating out and away pointless, there was no reason when the Sheppey is so good. The Jerk chicken and rice is just 5 Star and the fish stew aswell. Can't speak highly enough of this place, feel like we made new friends along the way. I can't wait to return! If you see any negative reviews I'm sure it would only be a one off fau par as everyone has off days .i would recomend the Sheppey in a blink!.

The pub is much larger than it looks from the outside, and I love the decked seating area outside, overlooking the small River Sheppey. We were greeted by Tamzin the landlady and later spoke to landlord, Ben. They are a husband-and-wife team. We were shown to our table and were ready to order lunch. I went for the fish stew which was absolutely delicious. Tamzin said it has been on the menu for a very long time and continues to be popular. My wife was very happy with her chicken burger and chips. While we were waiting for our meals to be cooked, i snuck round to the public bar area to see what ales and ciders were on offer. I opted for 'Sheppey's Cider' (not to be confused with Sheppy's Cider of Taunton). Apparently, it is pressed specially for the pub by cidermaker, Heck’s, of Street. I was informed that cider was available in the front room of the pub up to 300 years ago, when agricultural workers would come by to quench their thirst. Aficionados of good ales, ciders and home cooking should prioritise a visit to The Sheppey Inn! 🙂

Godney is a 10 minute drive , over the moors, from Glastonbury. It's very rural with lots of flooded fields in the winter months but still so worth making the effort to go to. The roads are narrow, so just take your time and be aware of the 'passing points' - and it'll be a breeze. There's lots of seating in the pub ( they do 140 meals on a Sunday!) and it's a small but very good menu which is full of interest and very , very tasty indeed. The beer is also very good and original. The staff are all lovely. I paid £80, for me and my partner for a beer, main , pud' & coffee which I thought was very reasonable - it was all delicious and full of flavour. We even sat by the river which was an added bonus but no kingfisher unfortunately! Well, you can't have it all?
